I actualy don't have any ypbind-related packages installed.

The issue turned out to be on my end. I was passing

--with-hook=ypbind.conf --with-hook=ypbind.in

into configure, rather than

"--with-hook=yp.conf

And no, it's not getting installed into my libexecdir, I'm putting the hooks 
into separate RPM packages in case I decide I want them later (no need to 
recompile to get them :-) ). I can provide the build script and init scripts 
if you're interested, though I'll probably try to suggest them to the EPEL 
repository.
