By the way, in case it wasn't clear, here's my general "testing setup"
that is in fact the real world usage of my laptop:

- I have wireless and I have ethernet, and they're on the same network.
- dnsmasq gives the same IP to both my eth0 MAC and wlan0 MAC.
- There's wireless most places in my apartment, but sometimes I choose
to disconnect from wireless for various reasons.
- There's only ethernet on my desk and at the couch. I prefer
ethernet, so when it's there, I use it.

All of this means that I'm constantly plugging and unplugging either
wlan0 or eth0, in various combinations and circumstances. The goal is
to have packets smoothly and perfectly transition over from one to
another, without packets or connections dropping, in a race-free way.

I think your initial patch for this is a great step in the right direction.
