Hi List
dhcpcd-6.1.0 has been released with the following changes:
Hi, just updated from dhcpcd-5.6.2 and also updated kernel from 3.2 to
3.10, and I notice a change in behaviour in that --background (or same
in /etc/dhcpcd.conf) no longer causes dhcpcd to background. I had a
quick look at the code and I see it should log that it's trying to
background, so I think it's not a fork failure because I see no such log
messages?
System is gentoo, using openrc and an older udev. I am testing by
starting dhcpcd manually against an ethernet interface which is "up",
but has no cable attached. I just see the following:
$ dhcpcd -C resolv.conf -b -m 12 eth3
dhcpcd[6337]: version 6.1.0 starting
Nothing to do
Nothing to do
dhcpcd[6337]: eth3: waiting for carrier
Any ideas on where to look to debug this? Obviously I need to
instrument a little?
Thanks
