Has anyone had any thoughts on a GUI for wired connections too? Maybeas an extension to dhcpcd-ui ?
There is a GUI for all connections regardless of type for a basic IPv4 configuration. The drop down menu which shows wireless points only really works for wireless.
What wired specific details would you like to see?
Also the webpage mentions future versions will have better dhcpcd and wpa_supplicant configuration options. (I checked out the git repo and didn't notice.) Is there any document that lists the ideas and what is needed?
Not really I'm afraid.Since I wrote it I haven't come up with any new ideas beyond what currently exists. My goal for it was to keep it very simple, which it presently is. maybe too simple.
I have since upgraded my linux box to the latest Debian with Gnome 3 and I notice that dhcpcd-gtk no longer appears where it should, but in what looks like a compatiblity tray in the lower right hand corner so my present thought is just to relocate the
icon to the correct place.I'm mainly working on putting full IPv6 RS/RA handling into dhcpcd [1] and once that's finished then start on a DHCPv6 stack. So if someone wants to step up and improve dhcpcd-ui with better Gnome3, QT or Enlighenment support or improve the existing screens
then that would be very welcome :)But truthfully, dhcpcd development is a lot slower as family and work take up more
and more of my free time.[1] For the interested, my non comitted dhcpcd code now adds and removes IPv6 addresses and routes successfully for NetBSD and Linux. However, I need to move the RAs received from the interface and move them to a global list and reference the interface from each. This will allow me to have a seperate sort order from IPv4 and support router preference. Then I need to handle roucher reachability with Neighour Solictation and Adveristments for full RFC
compliance. Thanks Roy
