Pardon the delayed response; I was away for a few days.

The permissions on the file
(/usr/lib/dbus-1.0/dbus-daemon-launch-helper) is 0755 (-rwxr-xr-x)

P.S. The flags passed to configure are as follows:
--prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc
