dhcpcd does not need to support hal - it talks directly to the kernel for all
interface events. I also discard any notion of support for hal, as hal lives
in /usr and dhcpcd needs to work in /.
NetworkManager supports dhcpcd, but needs to be compiled for it instead of
dhclient. I would imagine that as kNetworkManager is just a QT GUI on
NetworkManager the support is already there.
You may also be interested in dhcpcd-gtk(dhcpcd-ui) [1] and dhcpcd-dbus [2].
